However, their fortunes change when a massive river of ectoplasm is discovered in the city, and a resurgence of spectral activity begins to occur. The team is called back into action to investigate these paranormal events, which they soon discover are connected to a powerful and malevolent spirit known as Vigo the Carpathian.
Vigo, a 17th-century artist, was once a powerful sorcerer who was imprisoned in a painting.
